established

THE GREATER Vancouver
Regional District (GVRD) has
appointed a 12-member com-
mittee to advise on the trans-
portation of dangerous goods
in the region.

The group includes representa-
tives from various stakeholders.

Included on the committee are
representatives from trucking, rail,
and marine services, chemical sup-
pliers and manufacturers, and local
governments.

The committee will provide a
forum for discussion and problem
soiving among key industries.

Local government will act in an
advisory capacity to the GVRD
and federal and provincial min-
istries. :
Captain J.G. Houston of the
Vancouver Port Corporation chairs
the committee. Frank Clegg of the
Regional Emergency Planners
Committee is deputy chairman.
