OPTIONS FOR VOLUNTEERS THE FOLLOWING is a selection of volunteer opportunities avail- able through North Shore Com- munity Services (NSCS). MATURE and kind individuals who have good tistening skills are needed to spend time with mothers who need assistance building their self-esteem. The hours are limited and training will be provided. VOLUNTEERS are needed !o spend one-on-one time with some seniors at a hospital or seniors’ lodge. Volunteers will also be re- quired to assist during mea! times. The hours vary. BIG SISTER volunteers are needed to develop a one-on-one telationship with young women. Big and little sisters will get together for social events and share time enjoying recreational activities and mutual interests. The volunteer should be commit- ted to spending at least five hours per week as a big sister. Training and orientation will be provided. PEOPLE who are friendly and have strong public-relations skills are needed to conduct information and referral interviews with would-be volunteers. Duties in- clude phone work, scheduling, in- terviewing, filing and record keep- ing. The hours are flexible and training and orientation will be provided. A SECRETARY is needed by a- North Shore fibrary foundation board. Duties include typing, pro- cessing mail and recording the minutes of meetings. Mectings take place the second Wednesday of each month, SIX HUNDRED volunieers are needed to help make First Night a success. Positions range from working in the general office to being an usher to carpentry and construction. The hours vary. VOLUNTEER coordinators are needed to work with small groups of elderly volunteers.
