A 37-YEAR-OLD New Westminster man was sentenced June 21 in
West Vancouver provincial court to six months in jail after he
pleaded guilty to a charge of theft under $1,000.

_ year-old Vanessa Renee Moody, of no fixed address, with two
counts of theft under $1,000 and possession of stolen property in
connection with a June £9 incident in which hundreds of dollars

worth of cigarettes and a purse were stolen from a Squamish

 ~ Appearing before Judge R.D. Grandison, Lanctot pleaded guilty

HOLY HATS, kids! Crime doesn’t pay. Charges are pending

ast two North Vancouver youths, age 13 and 14, following an
attempted theft of a Batman hat and approximately $3,300 worth
of merchandise from a Park Royal department store June 19.

West Vancouver Police and a store security guard responded to 3
store alarni after closing.

According to a West Vancouver Police spokesman, two youths
had hidden themselves in the store befcre closing time. The
suspects had collected merchandise and had packed it up for
removal near a second-floor exit doorway. The goods included
backpacks, cigarettes, candy, aftershave and clothing.

+ Police said two suspects were located on an escalator, carrying
pith helmets, a hatchet and sweatshirts.

Man charged
with B&E

A BURNABY man has been charged with break, enter and theft
following a reported theft of a bicycle in West Vancouver June 6.

A West Vancouver Police spokesman said a resident of the
5400-block Monte-bre observed a man remove a mountain bike
from the garage of his home at approximately 12:30 a.m.

Police say the owner yelled at the suspect and the man dropped
the bike. Police nabbed the suspect while he was driving from the

scene. . . . A

of $272,945 in revenue-sharing grants from the provincial govern-
