This international, multicultural group of children, ages four to 17, is part of the international, in- terdenominational organization Youth With A Mission (YWAM). They are presently based at the YWAM-headquarters in Richmond and wil! be performing in North Vancouver Aug. 2 at Cleveland Dam at 1 p.m. Their prograin 1s # combination of music, song, creative move- ment, dance and special interna- tional costumes. The King's Kids portray friend- ship that breaks barriers, joy that overcomes sadness and love that heals broken relationships. Originating in Hawaii in 1976, King’s Kids International began to spread its wings. In 1979 the first international tour began, including perfor- mances in Japan, Fiji, Australia, Holland and Hawaii. In 1982 one of the King’s Kids groups provided concerts during the World Cup Soccer Games in Spain. In 1983, other King's Kids teams performed in official events associated with the South Pacific Games in Western Samoa and in 1984 with the Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Last year King's Kids Interna- tional conducted different tours in Europe, South America and the Pacific Islands. This summer, one of the King's Kids groups will be at Expo and on several focations in and around Vancouver. Students, up to !6 years of age can enter the program by visiting the pavilion, and then creating their impressions of Saudi Arabia in pictures and words. A selection of the subrnissions will become part of an exhibit at the Vancouver Public Library. Entries will be accepted in two categories — writing, and poster art (drawing and painting). Lesley Richmond, fibre printing artist and instructor in the two- year Crafts Program at Capilano College has put together an exhib- ition of her own work and the work of her students from both the first and second year of the pro- gram. Artists Norma Langrish, Susan Underwood, Ruth Atfield, Amy Goodwill, Jocelyn Boardman, YCK Naomi Braun, Roberta Jones, Kate Hill, Pat Gessey, Marketa Pererka, and Kera Spedn are ex- hibiting printed fabrics of their design and making in the form of yardages, stretched wall pieces and floor mats.
