couts, guides __ meet for xporee NORTH VANCOUVER scouts and guides . are gathering for an Exporee at Waterfront Park this weekend. By ROSS MEEK News Reporter ‘The Exporee, which is a special variation on the normal scout and guide jamboree, is a great big car- nival to celebrate Expo on the North Shore,”’ said organizer Pat Druggee. ‘“‘And everyone is wel- come.”’ The two days of events feature displays of scout and guide activi- ties on the North Shore as well as fun and games for all. LOCAL CELEBRATION “‘We were approached by the North Vancouver Expo Committee two years ago to be part of a community celebration,’? said Druggee. ‘“‘And we felt it was a learn about scouting and guiding and to help the community cele- brate during Expo. It is also a way we can pay back the community for their support. ” The festivities start each day at 10 a.m. and run through until 5 p.m. Events include an obstacle race, @ parachute game, face painting, a rope trolley ride, Maypole races, cub car competitions and hands-on arts and crafts. | The public is welcome to par- ticipate in all of the activities. Each day there are also ethnic dancing exhibitions by Native Dancers and the Agha Khan East Indian Dancers. The dancing gets under way each day at 11:30 a.m. CAMPFIRE FINALE The festivities wind up each. afternoon with a traditional. scout/guide campfire, although it - will be held on the stage with no. actual flames.
