While the media reported that the vehicle involved was a school bus, Hutzkal says it was a coach. ‘‘The purpose of a school bus is safety,’’ says Hutzkal, who says basic structural dif- ferences between a coach and a school bus include heavier construction, safer seats and stronger joints. School buses are also upgraded every year to meet Federal Government safety standards, Hutzkal says. D&N Transportation has been accident free since tak- ing over Wyllie and Hill Transportation in 1980. The company employs seven part- time drivers and owns 16 buses, 10 of which are cur- rently operational. As well as leading to a decline in business, Hutzkal says fears raised by the bus crash have fed to near ac- cidents in North Vancouver.
