Vy A nautical supermarket awaits visitors to the 1980 Vancouver International “Boat Show to be held at Exhibition Park February ! to 10. Mariner’s Marketplace, a special display area to be set up in the Rollerland Building at the Park, will feature a potpourri of equipment as ~we as demonstrations by a number of organizations connected with life on B.C.’s water- ways. The Quarterdeck, a ship's store run by Genoa Yacht Sales Limited of Vancouver, will offer a variety of items of interest to the boating crowd — everything from shoes, boots and other nautical clothing to galley equipment, books, govern- ment publications, gifts and accessories. Steveston Marine and Hardware Co. Ltd. will be displaying marine hardware and fasteners, stoves, tools, rope and anchors. The Lower Mainland Region of the B.C. Wildlife Federation will also be located in the Mariner's Marketplace area and will feature fly-tying and rod- building demonstrations, a display of live falcons, an area where the casting of lead sinkers and bullets will take place and a display of trophy animals and mounted fish. There will also be a raffle on various sporting goods merchandise and a chance for showgoers to bid on the materials produced in the demonstration area during nightly auctions. The Underwater Ar- cheology Society of British Columbiu will be another participant in the Mariner's Marketplace display, making the public more aware of their efforts to learn more about the province's nautical history. The Canadian Red Cross Society will be presenting an audio-visual slide show and films in conjunction with their Small Craft Safety Program. Also involved in the safety aspect of boating will be a contingent from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police ’ concentrating on vessel security and water safety. Someone doesn’t like us! THOROLD, Ont.
