Couple violated by robbers |

Dear Editor:

Sunday morning, August 2,
around 4 a.m. my husband and 1
were raped; we werc violated.
Our home was broken into while
we were away on vacation. The
robbery was made more
devastating by vandalism.

I had been gone for a week in
Birch Bay; my husband joined me
Saturday morning. We realize now
that we are all being watched by

someone locally, as these break-
ins occur on the first night the
house is left vacant.

We would like to thank our
neighbors who heard the alarm,
treated it as a false alarm, (of
which we have had none in the
past 344 years) and did not cail
the police,

We hope you, the thief, choke
on the necklace and that the 550
loonies and gold items bring you

Extending travel unfair

It has been some time since the
issue of the Caulfeild middle
school has come up.

One concern that does not seem

to be addressed is that not only
will this school house much fewer
students, but it is only for grades
7Tto9,

When 1 read in the North Shore
News (July 24) that Rob William-
son was dying of advanced heart
disease and needed an organ
donor, I was devastated.

[do not know Rob as a friend,
buc in his manner of doing
business he always demonstrated
something akin to friendship:
kindness and caring. .

From childhood, | have believed
that God is Love and, further, in
Christ’s message that ‘Greater
love kath no man/woman than

he/she would lay down his/her
life for a friend.'’ Herein } make
a public pledge of my runner's
heart to Rob Williamson or
another in need should my own
passage have an untimely end.

And to Rob, | would add a
personal note. To know the true
depth of your need, one's own life
has had to de touched by the
miracle of a second chance at life.

Please add my prayers to those
of your friends.

are at a greater risk of dropping

travels at such a time seems un-

Coupled with the fact the Doug

high schools have outdated
equipment, why condone these
students to have such a drastic
drop in educational resources?

Perhaps it is best to leave
Hillside where it is, a daily travel
students are used to, and update
their computers ete. along with
West Van Secondary. Surely this
is less costly than a brand new
school for limited grades.

Failing this, should not
Caulfeild Secondary house all
grades from 8 to 12? Get serious,
Doug.
