Drive to resolve Lions Gate issue By tan Noble News Reporter THREE Liberal MLAs will be among Christmas shoppers at Park Royal to launch a drive to raise the profile of the Lions Gate Bridge issue. West Vancouver-Capilano MLA Jeremy Dalton, West Vancouver-Garibaldi MLA Ted Nebbeling, and North Vancouver-Lonsdale MLA Katherine Whittred will be collecting signatures Dec. 15 on a petition “urging immediate action to renovate or replace the aging structure.” But even Whittred doesn’t hold out much hope for the opposition politi- cians’ efforts bearing fruit anytime soon. She said the members of a cash- strapped provincial government do not view the bridge as a priority. “I just don’t sce anything changing in the near future from the govern- ment’s perspective,” she said, adding “near furure” means this term of office. That term extends more than four years into the future. West Vancouver-Capilano MLA Jeremy Dalton agreed the prospects for quick action don’t look good. A new structure, he said, “is not going to happen in the near future.” See MLA page 3 Shot man faces charges By Anna Marie D'Angelo News Reporter A North Vancouver man, who remains on life sup- port after being shot in the head on Saturday, faces charges of robber kidnapping, unlawful confinement and e tion.
