within the safety of a group.

The North Vancouver
Recreation | Commission's
Easy Hiking Series rans alter-
nate Saturdays and Sundays
through June 22. Led by natu-
ralists or experienced. hikers,
each two- to three-hour hike
explores a different site in the
Lower Mainland.

The Saturday, April 27,
hike is through Capilano River
Regional Park. A schedule of
future hike dates and locations
can be picked up at any North
Shore recreation facility.

Participants meet at the
Centennial Theatre parking lot
at 9 a.m. The cost is $5.

Participants are advised to
bring a bag lunch and bottled
water, and wear appropriate
hiking gear and footwear.

schools are planning
sules of hanging baskets
and blooms for the gar-
den.

Now through April 30,
Seycove Community School,
1204 Caledonia Ave., North
Van, is accepting orders for
hanging baskets. Order forms
are available at the school,
Deep Cove Cultural Centre.
Ron Andrews rec centre and
Parkgate library.

The baskets are purchased
direct from the grower so
prices are reasonable, say the
organizers.

A 10-inch plastic basket
of hybrid impatiens is $11.
Ten-inch plastic ($17), 12-

inch cedar ($26) and 16-inch
moss ($45) baskets contain
up to 16 varieties of healthy
plants.

Proceeds from the sale are
to benefit a scholarship fund
for Seycove drama students.
