Documenting the demise of Canada MANY PEOPLE still don't realize how this country has been tricked by its politicians. It’s called government by subreption, meaning the con- cealing of true aims, which is what we’ve had for 30 years. But in his book Farewell the Peaceful Kingdom, Joe Armstrong lays it all out. lis a 745-page tome, and the author demonstrates with devastating detail how Canada has been finessed into being what it never wanted to be. The process began with the Pearson government, got into high gear with Trudeau, was continued by Mulroney, and is still going on today. You will see just how the elitists sicked the costly disaster of bilin- gualism onto Canada; how the media slept while Trudeau, Mulroney and Clark sold us out to Quebec; how the misnamed Charter of Rights and Freedoms was born without as much as a by-your-leave, and how censorship in the name of freedom became a cult. A revolt is under way, of course. That was shown by the way we reacted to Meech Like and the Charlottetown Accord and by the cise of the Reform party. But the social engineers still have us in their grip. You may ask: if this book is so good, how come we have never heard of it? Because it is anti-establishment and rocks too many boats, that's why. A politically correct author like Peter Newman can bring out a book and be fawned on by the media. But something that gives it to them in the gut will be ignored. I talked to Armstrong and he gave me the story. Twenty-six CBC producers were asked if they would authorize reviews. None did. No doubt they had seen his statement that “of all the organizations that betrayed Canada, none performed that role with more consummate arrogance and aplomb than the CBC" Liberal guru Peter Gzowski doesn’t want to know about Armastrong’s book, either. In the LONSDALE INTERIORS § 1829 Lonsdale Ave. 980-928 1 Lv) Collins a on the @ other hand same way, he didn’t want to know about Bill Gairdner’s best-selling The Trouble With Canada. It took Gairdner 10 months to get on Gzowski's show, by which time the book had already solu 25,000 copies. But Armstrong has had a good reception on private radio. The author has no favorites, digs deep, and even takes a few swipes at Preston Manning. He shows how Manning's people had to frog-masch him into taking a stand against the infamous Charlottetown Accord. He also dredges up iy little contest with the Reform leader, which { thought everyone had forgotten bout, The major print media don't escape lightly, cithes, Perhaps that's why Canada’s “national newspaper." the Globe and Mail, has not reviewed the book. nor has The Toronto Star, Armstrong documents their doings, calls the Globe the “Baculty Club. and the Star, “Canada's leading socialist newspa- per Farewell did get an unfavorable review inthe Vancouver Sun by some oincompoop who said that if it were not so badly written, this book would be dangerous. He didn't say why it would be dangerous bat can tell him. ft shows what a sham our politi- cal system is and how we've been sold down the St Lawrence by schemers. He reminds us, for instance, of the forgotten fact that Lucien Bouchard promoted the Yes side in the 1982 Quebec referendum, yet still became a cabinet minister and ambassador under Mulroney. In addition to the sellout to Quebec by the “Vichy Anglos” he details how immigration, affirmative action, hate laws, the abolition of capital punishment, multicult, and the destruction of the merit principle in the federal civil service were pushed down our throats. And he hiss a ball with how acad- emics and the mainstrean media situted while those things were being done. There as a wealth of information in Farewell the Peaceful Country. And it is encouraging that there are sult authocs and publishers around who are ready to challenge our stifling Establishment. The book, published by Stoddart, costs $35. [you can’t afford that, inake sure your library gets it. a EDCH or Applause for All-stars Dear Editor: I just wanted to express my appreciation to the North Shore News for the wonderful high-profile middle-page spread to the many North Shore All-Star athletes.
