Sunday, January 1, 1989 ~ North Shore News IN 1953, Bob Vacher served one year apprenticeship after graduating from barber school... and then he struck out on his own. In 1961, he relocated to the corner of Lynn Valley Road and Mountain Highway and has been there ever since. In those 27 years Vacher has seen big changes in Lyno Valley. His business is made up of regular customers and he always gives seniors a special price. Vacher refers to barbering as a vanishing trade and says ‘‘once the old barbers retire the barbershops as we know them will disappear.’’ But in the meantime, Vacher will stay put and keep the same hours he has kept all along — Tuesday. to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
