EXCESSIVE CABLE RATE INCREASES

Shaw Cablesystems (B.C,) Lid. has applied to the C.RTC. tor a rate in-
crease to their basic cable service rates in their North and West Van-
couver systems. If the commission grants this rate increase (10.2%) as
requested by Shaw, it will be in excess of the CPI (Consumer Price In-
dex) ending April 30, 1986 of 3.9% This excessive and inflationary in-
crease must not go unchallenged. Shaws rate increase will not be op-
posed in a public forum unless you voice your concern. Show the
government that you demand a public hearing whereby Shaw will
have to demonstrate pubiicly why it needs such a rate increase. Please
fil] out the following form and mail it to us by September 30, 1986 and
we will see to it that the CRT.C. receives it and your concems are heard.
