The area’s pioneers knew how to celebrate and the an- nua! Dominion Day Picnic quickly became the social event of the year. People would make their way from New Westminster, Nanaimo and even Victoria to join in the festivities. On Monday, July 1, the Vancouver Museum will recreate the spirit of the popular Dominion Day Pic- nics. From noon to 6 p.m., Vanier Park, which sur- rounds the museum- planetarium complex, will become the ‘‘mill-site’’? and food, drink, games, races, music and dancing from an earlier time will be featured.
