Budget committee forms
to increase public input

sory. committee on Sept. 21. The .

board’s budgeting process.

_The seven-member committee
includes:

@ the superintendent of schools;
@ a representative from the North
. Vancouver Teachers’ Association
(NVTA);- --

@ a representative from the Ca-
nadian Union of Public
Employees (CUPE),

@ a representative from
Parents Advisory Council;

@ administrators from elementary
and secondary schools. ~

to address concerns regarding, for
example, cutbacks to school
district funding. ;

The committee is expected to
meet monthly from Oct. J to May
31, or as the committee deems
necessary.

Trustee Pat Heal was appointed
te the committee; trustee Don Bell
was named as the alternate.

Lions Gate to
host forum on
breast cancer

A FREE public forum on breast
cancer will be held on Wednesday,
Oct, 20, at’ the Centennial
Theatre,

Panelists include oncologist
Paul Klimo, family practitioner
Kathy Carter, psychothergpist
Jessica Easton, dietitian Danielle
Bergstrom, clinical nursing
specialist Mong. Rechner and
social worker Heather Boal.

Woren who have had breast
cancer will also be included on the
panel to discuss cancer treatment
and the return to health following
the illness.

Tickets can be picked up in ad-
vance at Centennial Theatre’s box
office, 2300 Lonsdale Ave. in
North Vancouver, between noon
and 4 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the
Canadian Cancer Society and
Lions Gate Hospital.
