40 - Sunday, June 23, 1985 - North Shore News Arts Council presents ‘PUPPETRY leads to cre- ative thinking. On July 13, the North Shore Puppetry Theatre and the West Vancouver Com- munity Arts Council present Puppetry in Education, Therapy, Religion, Art and Entertainment. The program will include: demonstrations using shadow puppets and other puppets with songs; hand puppets using a joke wail; and, by special arrangement with the Kinsman Rehabilitation Foundation of B.C., ‘Kids on the Block’, a troupe of puppets who puppets travel with their puppeteers to schools around the pro- vince, teaching a positive at- titude toward people with disabilities. This event will take place at Klee Wyck, 200 Keith Road, in West Vancouver on Saturday July 13th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission for children is $1.00 and for adults, $2.50. For information and reg- istration phone 922-1110, weekdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the West Vancouver Arts Centre Building Fund. Changes in pension thinking From Page 32 because he is in a pension plan, he can only contribute | up to $2,000 a year,”’ says Marosits. ‘‘The man next to him, who earns the same salary but in a_ different company that doesn’t have a pension plan, can contribute up to $15,500 by 1990, and can put that money away tax-free. It doesn’t sound fair, does it?” So far, Marosits has inter- ested about six North Shore companies. in an idea that involves changing their pen- sion plans so that the employee is given the money that would normally go into the. pension plan. The ‘employee’ then can_ invest that money in.an’ RRSP by having the company deduct a regular amount from his paycheque, either monthly, quarterly, or annually. The advantage to the company, says Marosits, is that it will be free of the “administrative nightmare’’ of providing a pension plan. From the employee’s point of view, it becomes up to the employee to decide how much should be contributed to the RRSP each year, thus ’ giving him greater flexibility with his income. “The budget will mean a big change in the pension - plan thinking of- business, both small and big,’’ says Marosits: ‘‘There are a lot of companies out there that are going to at least examine their present situation, in light of the budget pro- posals.”* Must Vacate Showrocim!
