Grouse Mountain is hosting a vari- ety of interesting options, and New Year’s revellers are sure to find some- thing on the mountain top that inter- ests them. Of the five options each celebrating the past, present and beyond, three still have space avail- able. The First Nations “Coming of a New Age” Celebration will begin with a torch-lit celebration through the alpine forest, an aboriginal cleansing ceremony, native dancing, drumming, and a five-course traditional native feast. The Modern Day celebration will feature a buffet in the newly-designed Lupins Restaurant, a trek on snow- shoes to a snow-cave where story- tellers will entertain over warm bever- ages, or glide around the mountain- top skating pond. The Vision to the Future celebration will take place in the mountain’s new restaurant, The Observatory and will feature a seven- course dinner. At sea level, those looking to cele- brate the year 2000 in locomotive style can take a seat in the Pacific Starlight Dinner Train and enjoy a five-course gourmet meal, fine wine, festive jazz music and dancing under the stars in Porteau Cove, plus fire- works and champagne.
