At the recent 1999 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Visteon announced it will establish a strategic partnership with Nintendo of America to imar- Ket and promote Vistcon’s new Rear Seat Entertainment System. The partnership will provide Visteon customers with proven systems technol- ogy and numerous entertain- ment options. The Visteon Rear Seat Entertaiament System allows children in the back seat of vehicles to play video games er watch their favourite movies. Visteon expects to lever- age its product manufactur- ing and distribution strengths with Nintendo’s popular line of video game products to appeal to Rear Seat Entertainment buvers, according to Kevin Singer, marketing manager of Visteon’s Global Aftermarket Operations. “Nintendo is an ideal partner for this type of tech- nology, which we consider an exciting innovation in mobile electronics,” Singer said. ‘Nintendo has built an extremely popular and respected brand name in the entertainment industry, and this alliance will certainly strengthen the exposure and recognition of Visteon’s Rear Seat Entertainment System.” Nintendo will receive inclusion in all marketing and promotional etforts related to the Rear Seat Entertainment System including public relations, in- showroom dealership promo- tions, direcr mail, advertising and other marketing strate- gies. “Gaining increased expo- sure for the Nintendo name and product to our target market is one of the major reasons we decided to part- ner with Visteon,” said Nintendo of America vice- president George Harrison. “We also are excited to be associating ourselves with a manufacturer of 2 high-quali- ty mobile entertainment sys- tem. “The Rear Seat Entertainment System is just another opportunity toe offer our customers an innovative way to enjoy our products,” Harrison concluded. The Rear Seat Entertainment System will initially be available as an option on Ford Windstar and Mercury Villager minivans beginning in April of this vear. The system will be avail- able on most minivans, con- ventional vans and sport util- itv vehicies manutactured by all automakers by the end of 1999. Singer noted that Visteon’s system has numer- ous advantages over similar systems in the market, including superior tit and fin- ~ ish, a warranty identical co a new vehicle warranty, an inte- grated console design to deter theft, and a competitive price which can be rolled into monthly vehicle payments. “We believe ‘thar our products must offer trade customers and consumers as many value-added benetits as possible,” Singer said. “This parmership with Nintendo ensures that Visteon will be selling the most complete. Rear Seat Entertainment System on the market.” To date, Nintendo has sold) more than 1 billion video games worldwide, and has created such industry icons as Mario, Yoshi, Zelda, and Donkey Kong. Nintendo manufactures and markets hardware and software for its best-selling home video game systems, including the 64-bit Nintendo 64, and the 16-bit Super Nintendo Entertain- ment System.
