WEST VANCOUVER DISTRICT COUNCIL By Maureen Curtis “I hope that everybody keeps in communication so we can head off any problems that may arise,” said Boname at the June 20 meeting of West Vancouver District Council. That night, council authorized the municipality's assistant director of operations to issue a blasting permit for a project that requires rock removal in excess of the limits normally imposed for residentially zoned property, The rock removal is for the new school, however, and will enable the digging of utility trenches and the building of a driveway, parking, the school building, the gymnasi- um, playing field and tennis court. The blasting period, which is: usually limited to 14 days, will take an estimated cight weeks. Although some nearby residents have suggested that hydraulic rock breaking might be safer than blast- ing, assistant director of operations Doug Wylie reported that he was satisfied with the precautions taken. Hydraulic hammers could increase the duration and cost of the project, while producing more noise, vibration and annoyance, Wylie pointed out in his report. 4-5”x7” 10-4"x6” * MUST BE GRADUATION PICTURES Sale ends Sept. 15, 1994 LIMITED u TIME For imited dine only. sive AB olf pls aie the O6S.7 cae inerediide seleetion af mitad Dliuls.
