Clissold, vice- president, sales and marketing. ‘‘The Taurus SHO generates power previously unheard of in a front-wheel drive production sedan.’" SHO stands for ‘Super High Output,’ which is provided by a dual overhead cam 24-valve 3.0 litre V-6 engine with sequential multi-port electronic fuel injection, dual exhausts and a five-speed manual transaxle. The car has been timed from zero to 100kph in 7.3 seconds. Ford and Yamaha developed the highly sophisticated Taurus SHO engine. Its SAE net ratings of 220 horsepower at 6,200 rpm, and 200 foot-pounds of torque at 4,800 rpm, place it among the top per- formance sedans in the world — and far ahead of any car in its class. In addition to its performance- oriented powertrain, Taurus SHO has four-wheel disc brakes, a han- dling suspension system with in- creased-rate bushings and 381mm (15-inch) WR-rated performance tires on cast aluminum wheels. The car also has a special look because of its unique front valance panel with integral fog lamps, lower side cladding and wheel spats.
