in respect of Friday's fatal
accident, which occurred in
fine weather but which 1s
still under investigation.

However, without singling
out either pedestnans or
drivers for blame, the RCMP
are asking all road users to
take particular care in view
of the frequency of 9 ac
cidents

people be extra observant

pedestrian accidents within
the past month. two of which

having right of way is not

“Even though people may
be in a crosswalk we ask
them to look around them.
Cars don't always yield.”

He asks all road users to
exercise caution. “It takes
two to have an accident,” he
says. “But if both partes are
watching there will probably
not be an accident "

AN ELDERLY woman
escaped with a minor burn to
one of her legs when fire
swept her North Vancouver
apartment early Sunday
morning.

The 12:30 a.m. blaze,
believed to have started on
the chesterfield where she
had been lying at the time,
was so intense that it
destroyed the entire suite,
causing an estimated $40,000
damage to the structure, in

addition to the ruined
contents.
Fire crews could see

flames coming from the top
floor of the — three-storey
apartment building at 155
West 13th Street as soon as
they left the North Van City
firehall.

They found the occupant,
Mrs. C. McMillan. already
outside the suite which was
engulfed in flames. She was
taken to Lions Gate Hospital
with a minor burn to a knee
and was tater released.
