“Even if they don't want to donate
their whistles and calliope,” he adds,
“they're welcome to bring them down
to the vessel and we'll hook them up
for them and give them a test.

“The old girl could use a proper
aluminum ship's gangway, too. We
have a house ladder now and it's
our fear that someone will fall off it
some day and sue us. We also have
a little 16 ft tender powered by a
Briggs & Stratton which we'd like to
replace with something like a small
Easthope engine.”

Local resident a Master builder

Presently tied up in New
Westminster, the vessel is worth ap-
proximately $2 million in its existing
state — which gives a good idea of the
amount of work that has already gone
into it. Incidentally, much of the
rebuilding is being done by North:
Shore resident Stephen Ley, a
wooden boat builder, together with a
group of volunteers, and some
assistance is also being provided by
Canada Manpower.

Other North Shore residents who
would like to contribute time, money
or nautical items to this valuable pro-
ject are invited to contact dim

regulations
available

regulations for sport fishing
in non-tidal waters of British

fishing in non-tidal waters of British
Columbia is now being distributed.

Regulations that differ from last
year are underlined in the new
booklet. Changes are few, and most
refer to specific small bodies of
water,

About one-fifth of 25 revised angl-
ing closures will increase fishing op-
portunity, and another four or five are
temporary closures on lake schedul-
ed to be rehabilitated to provide bet-
ter fishing. A few involve minor
changes in area or dates. About half
the closures will restrict angling in
order to conserve fish stocks,

There are about a dozen revisions
to daily catch quotas and catch-
and-release fisheries. .

synopsis is available from licence
vendors and. Government Agents’
offices.
