THE ESTEE Lauder
Companies are taking Eastern
Europe by storm.

metics giant — which manufactures
and retails the brand names Estée
Lauder, Clinique, Aramis,
Prescriptives and Origins — recent-
ly added a store in the Czech

- Republic to its arsenal of free-stand-
-ing . boutiques in China, Russia,
Hungary and Poland.

Located at 8 Vaci Utca, a pedes-
trian street in the city’s most fash-
. jonable shopping district, the store is
just a few doors from the city’s only
Estée Lauder boutique, opened in
"89.

Lauder. also opened a store in
Moscow that year, making it the first

merican cosmetics company to
enter both those cities. . -

In °93,. Lauder opened its first
‘wholly owned store in Warsaw,

- Poland. and its first counters in

‘China.

The beautiful building in which
the. Estée Lauder Perfumery in
Prague is housed is included in the
National Register of Historic Places

Estée’ Lauder executives worked :
closely with the Prague Preservation
Commission to restore the baroque...
facade and create a new interior. All
work was conducted ~ under .- the

Supervision of aCzech expert in his-
toric preservation.

THE HISTORIC building that houses the new Estée Lauder

Perfumery in Prague dates back to 1361.

cert and formal -black-tie dinner in
the theatre’s Mozart Salon. It was at
~ the Estates Theatre that Mozart pre-
mitred his opera Don Giovanni in
1787.

private suites where bilingual Czech’
estheticians offer customized make-

-up and skin treatments, two mani-

cure alcoves and a beauty atelier,

’ where customers can attend skincare
* seminars ‘and ° makeup demonstra-

Lauder Companies have introduced
two new items. :

Q: Can you give me
. some quick tips

day stains out of
my kids’ clothes?

* Ballpoint Ink. Hairspray containing
alcohol may work, but can also cause dyes
to bleed. Check your local grocery store for
effective cleaning agents, or query your
drycleaner to see what is available in your
area. Place an absorbent cloth under the
spot, apply the sofvent and blot with a clean
cloth to remove the ink. Continue until the
ink is removed.

Grass Stains. Pre-treat with a stain-
removal agent and wash with a quality
enzyme detergent.

Food Stains. Washing will generally
remove these stains. Some stains can be
pre-treated, while others may require pro-
fessional care.

Bloud. Simple household ammonia and
cold water can be used to pre-treat blood
stains. Do not use on silk oF wool as discol-
