4 - Sunday, July 17, 1994 - North Shore News Dr. Peter’s EIGHTEEN months after his death, we are getting the truth about “Dr. Peter,” the AIDS hero and “caring” celebrity. It’s a bedtime story of a sort, but not one you would want te read te your kids. Dr. Peter did 110 “disries” on the CBC, delivering pro-homosexu- al propaganda that ended only with his demise. What was seen on the box was mostly drivel, but the real story is in a book called Affirmation, writ- ten by another homosexual called Daniel Gawthrop. Peter was the author’s hero, too, but that only makes the evidence more devastat- ing. What is revealed is a sodomite sex-maniac who was a danger to himself and others, a man who could not control his lusts and whose life revolved around bug- gery. None of that appeared in the programs he did. On the contrary, he stated in one item that his illness was the result of ‘a single indiscre- tion,” leaving the impression with me, at least, that he had tried sodomy only once and had paid a price for his mistake. The facts are different. The disease was diagnosed in 1986 and he nearly died from it then. Also, he was every bit as recklessly promiscuous as most other homosexuals. Not long after he got out of hos- pital he was at it again with some- one called Marc. Plus others. In 1987 he went to Paris and enjoyed a group orgy. He described the evening as “euphoric and deca- dent,” complete with drugs, alcoho! and unprotected sex. He didn't bother to inform his favorite Frenchman that he was as sick as a dog with the disease, either. How's that for “caring?” He had a Lebanese boyfriend in Ottawa who died of AIDS plus many other “friends” in New York, and lucky old B.C. One of his local partners knew he had the disease but they bonked together anyway. “Our love defied logic,” the man is quoted as saying. . His CBC producers considered Dr. Persy to be the greatest thing - Since slicea bread. He was also seen as arole model for school- children and was trotted out to give lectures to kids, Did he tell them about the joys of homosexual orgies in Paris? Or that AIDS was good for them? Perhaps not. But as a homosexual he couldn’t help but boost his per- version. They all do. Like the broadcasts, the school talks were in the guise of “educa- tion” arid he even got on the gov- emment payroll, which says some- thing about the Education Ministry. WOUG Collins ON THE OTHER HAND Gawthrop supports the view that the talks were educational, of course. But he let the cat out of the bag when he wrote that Dr. Peter “stimulated a debate on sexual ori- entation” and was good for gay stu- dents. Translation: sodomy and les- bianism are OK. For you can be sure that Dr, Peter never said that homosexuality has always been dangerous and can now be deadly. His message was the myth of “safer sex,” and that “the vaccine against HIV infection is education.” There were some misgivings in the CBC about the broadcasts. Anchorman Kevin Evans thought ettling S bedtime story the stems were treading a thin line between journalism and voyeurism, but was overruled. He should have walked out of the studio, To bolsier his cause, as the author puts it, Diary producer David Paperny called in none other than Stan Persky, sodomite supreme. What did Persky think about the fledgling series’? He thought it was great. The CBC got plenty of com- plaints, although Gawthrop con- tends that the stuff was popular. it would certainly have been popular with the homos. But local CBC news ratings have been going down for years, unboosted by Dr. Peter. As for the complaints, the CBC relied on burnout. As the author states, “People got tired of com- plaining to deaf ears.” Only kooks, you see, could complain about such a noble pro- ject. There might have been some point to the series if he had said in 1992: “About 1,300 British Columbians have died of AIDS so far, 90% of them homosexuals. Be warned.” But he never did. So the stuff was nominated for an Academy Award? That doesn’t impress me at all, It should be no news to anyone that Hollywood is politically correct and rotten.
