Parent livid over the lack of report cards Dear Editor: Fam writing to say that | appre. ciated MLA Jeremy Dualton’s criti- cism of the lack of school reports this past June for North Vancouver District 44 students. I am surprised that the NVPAC would have received no message of concern from parents. I would like to suy, as one par- ent, that | was Jivid when | found ‘out, the day before school ended, that there were to be no reports, I felt like it was a total under- handed slnp in the face to the chil- dren by educators whose main goal now purports to be to teach them to love and respect each other, over and ubove academic excellence, I feel that one action told parents alot about the heart of the NVTA which is providing the framework Paul Hughes delights reader Dear Editor: Just a note to let you know how delighted {| was to see the column by Paul Hughes back in the paper. He is a real delight to read, and in these times, when every paper, every TV or radio news story is filled with crime, murder and vio- lence, ‘it is refreshing and relaxing to read something humorous, Paul never fails to lift my spir- its, to let me see people and events through the eyes of:“Everymun.” Let’s have more of his type of phi- losophy and outlook on life! - Lisa Cooper - Nerth Vancouver Learning languages lessens prejudice © Dear Editor: There is ao better time than the holiday season to say thank you to all those parents from the North Shore and elsewhere who have supported me by bringing their children to my French storytime on : Saturdays. There is no greater joy for me than to be able to share my French language and culture with all the children. 1 hope that as they grow up they will enjoy learning other languages and will be less prejudiced toward other cultures, whatever those cul- tures are. ., Louise J. C’Donnell McKnight North Vancouver for our children’ f education. We ure out of the country this year and it was bizarre trying to explain’ to educators in France that we had no reports on our children academically as the teachers, under the Teachers” Association, had refiised to provide them. Tam sure that they thought we hid three severely mentally chal- lunged children whom we simply “did not waat (o produce reports for, They could not understand “job action” that would allow an under- handed blow, Lagree that the situation was shameful, that reports should be submitted to parents, and am sur- prised that there has not been more reaction by! parents.
