Royals take provincial title

Double A. provincial honors,
blanking Holy Cross, 25-0.

senior girls’ volleyball team
climbed the highest precipice of

vince,

The Royals defeated the North
Peace Ooknpiks, from Fort St.
John, 3-1 (16-14, 6-15, 15-4,
45-9) in the title match.

The victory gave confirmation
to the Royals that they are indeed
the best team in the province.
During the regular season they
were consistently ranked the No. }
team in the province.

Fort St. John squad — the Royals
swept them 2-0 (15-3, 15-3) in
round-robin play —- Handsworth
had to play tough in the final.

The provincial title was Hand-
worth’s first since 1988. They are
coached by Mike Rockwell and
Neii Salkus.

‘Aly Patterson, a Grade 12 stu-
dent, and Alexis Walton, Grade
11, were named to the tournament
First All-Star team.

Apart from being ranked No. 1
since September, the team mar-
ched undefeated through three
tournaments, not including a 10-
game run at last weekends’ pro-
vincial tournament.
