Blackadder- designed home in Upper Lonsdale area

THIS LOVELY home on
the corner of east St. James
Road: and’ St.
Avenue in Upper Lonsdale

is another. example of the:

architecture ‘of Harry
Blackadder.

He designed the Wakley House
for: Stanley George Waklcy who
was a Clerk with the B.C.: Electric
‘Railway Co. .

The. Wakley family lived here

Andrews .

until the 1930s.

Several other homes on_ the
North Shore were designed by
Harry Blackadder, the majority of
them oeing in the Upper Lonsdale
Historic District.

A noteworthy home is the
Thomas Nye House, which. is
receiving heritage designation this
weekend, after undergoing major
restoration. and refurbishing ‘due
toa fire.
