Van man’s charges stayed CHARGES OF possessing burglary tools and stolen property were stayed Aug. 26 in North Vancouver provincial court against Richard Leslie Grant, The 22-year-old North Vancouver man had originally been charged jointly with Sean Blair McKay, 18, also of North Van- couver, in connection with a June 11 seizure of wire strippers, a screwdriver, 2 flashlight and a stolen car radio. The Crown entered 2 stay of proceedings in the charges against Grant, but McKay was remanded to Nov. 1 for a preliminary hear- ing into the charges. Sex assault charges laid A 46-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man appeared Aug. 26 in North Vancouver provincial court charged with six sexual-assault related charges laid against him in connection with incidents alleged to have involved his daughter and son. The man, whose name cannot be published because it could disclose the identity of the complainants, is charged with one count of sexual assauli and one count of incest in connection with inci- dents alleged to have occurred from Jan. 4, 1983 to Dec. 31, 1987 allegedly involving his daughter. He is further charged with another count of sexual assault, one connt of buggery, one count of engaging in anal intercourse and one count of touching the body of another person for sexual pur- poses in connection with incidents alleged to have occurred from Jan. 4, 1983 to Aug. 1, 1988 allegedly involving his son. Appearing before Judge J.D. Layton, the man was remanded to Sept. 16 for his next appearance on the charges. Bike session set NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP auxiliary members will be on hand to engrave bicyeles 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the Deep Cove Daze festivities planned for Sept. 5, Labour Day Monday. The police detactiment encourages all Seymour, Dollarton and Deep Cove arca cilizens to bring along their bicycles to the marking session located at the corner of Gallant Avenue and Panorama Drive. The bikes will be marked with a driver’s licence number in an effort to deter theft. Because of the high number of bike parts stolen, police recommend the engraving of removable bike parts. Every bicycle is identified with a decal as having been engraved. The bikes are also registered with the RCMP, simplifying insurance procedures.
