Options for
volunteers

THE NORTH Shore Information
and Volunteer Centre is seeking
volunteers to assist local non-profit
agencies. The following are just a
few of the opportunities available.

COURTWATCHERS required to
attend family and youth court in
North Vancouver to gather infor-
mation and statistics. An interest
in the law and attention to details
is important. Tuesday, Wednesday
or Thursday mornings plus a mon-
thly meeting. Training and orien-
tation provided.

TELEVISION volunteers needed
‘in the areas of interviewing,
researching and camera work.
Training provided by local station
in North Vancouver.

ACTIVITY AIDE required for a
physically handicapped program
running Wednesdays and Thurs-
days 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Activities
include outings, sports (such as
adaptive basketball) and crafts.

DRIVERS with Class 4 licence re- .

quired for afternoon outings with
seniors.

RECEPTIONIST to assist at front
desk with dealing with the public
plus some clerical work. A variety
of hours are available Monday to
Sunday. Interesting work of an
environmental nature.

AIDES to work with children five
to 12 years of age. Mature students
and young adults needed with an
interest in gymnastics and sports.
Training starts early April. After
school and evening hours
available.

GUIDES for an arts, science,
technology centre explaining and
demonstrating science exhibits to
the general public. Four hour
shifts Monday to Friday at a
downtown location. Training pro-
vided at no cost. Science
background helpful but not essen-
tial.
