Hollyburn Country Club directors were interested in selling off about 25 acres ot the club's 49 acres of land, but Hollyburn members felt the sale was not in their best interest. Concerned members, who have asked to remain anonymous, said the board of directors attempted to sell off half of the club lands with only a minority of the membership's permission. But board president John MeNicall said the menther- ship passed a club bylaw at a dune 3) meeting, agreeing that over 75 per cent of the membership must) vote on special resolutions. A fact sheet supphed to club members before the meeting by the board assured them that no sale of club Jand could) be made without the permission of its members, And furthermore the fact sheet said there is a covenant on the land restricting the use to recreational until Ju- ly, 1987, But one coneerned member said the directors had already gone ahead with advertising for joint development ventures for the land located below the club’s outdoor tennis courts. One of the proposals for the land was said to be ia condominium complex. Attendance at the three- day four-team tournament, which pitted Glasgow Celtic and Ajax, two of Europe's finest soceer teams, against the North Shore Colts and a team of Pacifie Rim Soccer league (PRSL) allstars, was a dismal 6,000 to the first two games, June 3 and 6, The tournament, which ended Saturday night, was entirely a Colts event, bankrolled and pronwoted by the North Shore team.
