8 ne 2 27 - Sunday, May 5, 1985 - North Shore News Rain didn't stop little league Julie Cat- chlove, Highland’s first girl ever to play in Majors, gave the Little League Pledge and the ceremonial first pitch was thrown by past president, Pat RAIN DIDN'T DAMPEN the spirits of the 330 Little’ Leaguers and their Coaches at Highland’s Little League kicked off the season ‘last Sunday. . Opening ceremonies began at noon with a message from Highiand’s President Ken McCartney. Introductions of the teams and coaches were made by the various league co-ordinators. Furlong. Busy months for gymnasts FLICKA GYMNASTS have been very active during the past several months, representing their club and the North Shore at several important competitions. The first major competi- tion for the year was the B.C. Winter Games, held in Osoyoos at the beginning of March. Flicka gymnasts Chantal Murata and Patti Furniss competed in the 15 and older group, and led the team to a second place finish. BOYS - GIRLS Murata also won the gold medal on valut, along with a silver on floor and a bronze on the beam. Patti Furniss won the silver medal cn the bars and a bronze on vault. Both competitors are veterans of previous B.C. Winter Games. Also at the B.C. Winter games for the first time were two younger Flicka Gym- nasts, Analise Oseen, and Jill Wilson, who competed in the 14 and under age group. Oseen won the bronze medal on the vault with Wilson just behind her in‘ fifth place. Both are looking forward to next year’s Games. parts and labour included, tax extra.
