on-line factory inspections,
every Pony is put through ex-
tensive safety related comple-
tion tests, including wheel
ahgnment, brakes, steering,
lights, water resistance and
road performance.

It has also passed severe
winter testing programs. And
in the case of cars built for
export to Canada, two Ponys
were put through the
rigorous Kaptest Engineering
program near Kapuskasing,
Ont., last winter. The cars
passed the tests with flying
colors. The 1984 Pony is built
to withstand Canadian
winters.

fers an extensive vehicle war-
ranty package on its complete
automobile line at no extra
charge. A 12 month/20,000
km original equipment war-
Tanty covers repair or
replacement of any compo-
nent found to be defective
under normal use. Con-
currently, a 24 month/40,000
km power-train warranty, a
36 month antu-perforation
warranty and an 80,000 km
emission control systems
warranty are included.

THE HYUNDAI

COMPANY

In 1967, the Hyundai
Motor Company was formed
to start South Korean
assembly of passenger cars, a
program that was launched
under the Technical
Assistance Agreement from
Ford. After only four years
of this activity, the produc-
tion of trucks, dump-trucks,
buses and luxury coaches was
also begun.

A major step was taken in
1973 to manufacture a range
of cars that was. based
primarily on Korean input.
Although the Korean car
market was growing rapidly,
it was essential that a new car
should also be suitable for ex-
port to all major industrializ-
ed countries. Hyundai Motor
Company consulted with
Italian designer Giorgetto
Giugiaro, and after a year of
meticulous preparation, the
Hyundai Pony was born and
