After. our. first attempt at wallpapering we found a number of
bubbles appearing in the surface of the paper. Can this be

repaired?

NSWER: Blisters or bubbles may sometimes

i appear after the wallpaper has dried, Usually
’ these are caused because the paper was not pressed
down sufficiently with the smoothing brush during
application. But it is not always your fault — sometimes

the sub-surface is to blame. In any citse the cure is not. -

really drastic.

Where possible, corrective cuts should be
>made along the pattern to help conceal the repair. This
_is not always feasible depending on the type of puitern
‘onthe paper. With a sh: arp utility knife ora single-
édged-razor blade make an X,-T or right-angle-cut in
‘the bubble with one end of the cut across. the top so
that glue can be flowed into it. Carefully pull back. the
‘cut portion, making sure that you do not fold it sharply
making a permanent crease. Hold the cut edges away
from the surface and apply glue to the wall and
wallpaper. Press the cut portion against the wall with
