For better or worse,
spring has made vet another
unheralded entrance with
showers no longer bearing
the threat of turning into
snow and the sun staging
appearances ar an ever-
increasing frequency.

So as skiers and other
winter enthusiasts get ready
to put away their gear for the
long hot summer another

- less vocal group is about to
hic its stride.

The gardeners — both
amateur and — otherwise.
Starting with the five-year
old experimenting with ger-
mination to the landscaper
planning intricate displays.
Beth do their work and
retire, waiting anxiously for
_the results of their actions to
pop through the soil surface
of their respective laborato-

ries.

There is a common thread
that runs through the earthy
” activity for all those involved.

. It is a pleasure that comes
from not only creation, but
also. cessation. Cessation of

_ all things worrisome, a place
of solace and quiet. in short,
escape.

4 As the cycle begins anew,

small and still insignificant

incarnaticns of growths are
starting to take root for the
first time.

Meanwhile, existing
bushes and shrubs are get-
ting ready te once again
spread their wings as this
pocket of warmth nudges
them cut of their winter-
long hibernation.

A snip here and a tuck
there will make for quite a
sight in no time at ail.

and dig in.
