There are several ways that North Van- couver individuals, schools. business and community groups can help to ensure that every North Shore resident has enough food to eat this Christmas. By Susan Webster Contributing Writer he North Vancouver Christmas Bureau, now @ pro- gram of the North Shore Fam- ily Services Society (NSFSS), has collected donations arid assembled food hampers for qualified North Shore families and individuals since 1931. Non-perishable food items, along with new toys and cash donations, are now being ac- cepted at designated drop-off depots all over the North Shore. ad .J aS This year the North Van- couver Christmas Bureau is encouraging individuals and organizations to sponsor bureau clieits and prepare personalized food hampers for specific families In need an the North Shore. Here are some suggestions and ideas from the Christmas Bureau staff that will help you create a Christmas hamper full of nourishing food and useful household items, as well as favorite Christmas treats. A Christmas hamper can take many forms, shapes and sizes. It can be a box ora basket, and it can be as deca- tative and festive as you care to makc it. In short, putting together a hamper can be a very creative process. The most important thing to remember when purchasing your items is that the contents in the hamper reflect the family members to whom it is being delivered. In most cases food hampers can be dropped off at the bureau office and deliveries will be ar- ranged by volunteers.
