Basing Twin tower agreement amended A BYLAW, slightly amending the terms of agreement to lease 320 Taylor Way and the nearby prop- erty at 680 Marine Drive, was taken to third reading at the Mon- day night meeting of West Van- couver District Council. By MAUREEN CURTIS Contributing Writer The agreement, which is between Newcorp Propertics and the municipality, has been amended to call for the landlord (the municipality) to evict the current tenant as soon as possible from the site and then clear the land. The municipality must then ob- tain all necessary approvals for the construction of the underpass that will access the future twin tower project from under Marine Drive. Due to the passage of time from the signing of the original agree- ment in April of 1988, a new schedule of dates (for various payments, etc.) has been approved. Ald. Carole Ann Reynolds voted against the amendment of the agreement because she said she felt a commitment to the public to have the municipality withdraw from the agreement. “Council has gone through this debate and we decided not to ap- peal the court decision,’’ said Ald. Mark Sager. Having decided not to appeal the B.C. Supreme Court decision upholding the lease agreement with Newcorp, council is under court order to perform to that lease, Sager pointed out. **We have no alternative but to follow through with the agree- ment,’’ he added. wa You have won a T-shirt in the N.S.
