For brakeman Guss and Andrew Mowatt of Hamilton, Ont., Cat Langford of Winnipeg, and Greg Haydenluck, the top starting time was a feat never before achieved. Canada’s national team, heading to the Winter Olympics next year, has improved greatly over the last four years, but still lacks the expe- rience necessary to take on the sport's superpowers of Switzerland and East Germany. In a sport needing fast start times, experienced drivers and top technology, Canada’s team is lack- ing in the last two requirements — the top drivers have only three years experience and the sleds are not top-of-the-line gear.
