Capilano society clarifies
service agency operation

On behalf of Capilano Cam.
munity Service Society, 1 would
like ‘to thank Mr. Wright for the
excellent article he wrote, Some
Naughty Kids got a great thing
started,’ in. the March 20 North
Shore News.

However, ne paragraph war-
rants clarification for publication.

Although, thie socicty docs

For some time now in: ‘movie,
theatres there has been an increas-
ing tendency to over amplify film
sound, to a degree where it simply
-becomes loud noise, quite uncom |
fortable to the car, if not painful,
even causing some temporary Iss
of hearing.

It is not just the loudness that is
objectionable, the speech of the
actors becomes distorted and difs
ficult 10 follow. It seems that the:
excessive amplification” of | rock *
music concerts has been carried
over into the cinema, and projec-
‘tionists turn up the sound track
volume .so that the film music,
_ whether rock or not, will-have the
"same deafening impact. : '

should be treated with respect as
the sensitive instruments they are,
to receive the film's message: not
