NEWS BRIEFS Teens injured SIX TEENS were injured last Wednsday afternoon when a truck went over an embankment at Lynn Canyon Park. According to a North Vancouver RCMP spokesman, a 1980 Ford Bronco driven by 16-year-old Otis Perrick, of North Vancouver, went out of control on a gravel road in the park, struck a tree and dropped over an embank- ment. None of the injured, who ranged in age from 14 to 16 years old, suffered life-threatening injuries. But two people were sent to Lions Gate Hospital. The police investigation into the accident continues. Trial set A 26-YEAR-OLD woman is facing 2 Jan. 27 B.C. Supreme Court trial following a bizarre accident that resulted in the lower-leg amputations of her then-fiance. Elizabeth Butzow is charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing hodily harm, impaired driving causing bodily harm, and driving with an alcohol level over .08. On Dec. 29, 1990, Butzow's former fiance, David Gallson, 29, had his legs crushed between two cars in the Lower Lonsdale area. Gallson has meanwhile filed a civil suit against Butzow and a number of other parties in connection with the ac- cident. Youths charged FIVE NORTH Vancouver youths have been charged with break, enter and theft after North Vancouver's Queens Cross Neighborhood Pub was broken into on July 18. The suspects entered a new beer und wine store under construction at the pub. North Vancouver RCMP ar- rested three suspects af the scene. Two others were ar- rested the following day. The suspects range in age from 13 to 17 years of age. Fires fought NORTH VANCOUVER District Fire Department firefighter. had their hands full eariy July 20 when fire hit a business located in the 1300-block of Pemberton Avenue anu then minutes later at the Lynn Valley Centre mali. A disposal container fire at the rear of an automotive outlet resulted in minor exposure damage to the rear wali of the buiiding and minor damage to the container at the Pemberton location. While firefighters were attending to the fire, the alarm system at Lynn Valley Centre was activated at about 12:30 a.m. Smoke was observed coming from the mall's food fair area. Upon entry firefighters saw that the building's automatic sprinkler system had activated. Investigators determined that the fire had originated below a shelf in the rear of the Gourmet China fast-food outlet. The fire was controlled and extinguished by a single aute matie sprinklee head. Damage 15 estimated at approximately $5,000. The fire departmen’ is creditin, the automatic sprinkler and an early warning fire protection system with minimizing the damage.
