Motorcycle show roars into the PNE today THIS weekend’s 1998 Vancouver International Motorcycle Show has special meaning for hundreds of members and supporters of the Greater Vancouver Motorcycle Club (GVMC). Back in 1922. legendary rider Fred Deeley and some triends held their tirst meet- ings of the Lions Gate Motorevele Club Upstairs at Deeley car and motaretele dealership on West: Broadway in Vancouver, The Lions Gate crew merged with another group in the 1930s to form the GVMC, and the members I oand 2 very first. Caribou Trails riding event, originally called the “360 Miler” and sull) can today, was launched by the club’s members in 1930. It was also in that decade that the club first adopted its dis- tinctive black and orange col- ors, From its very beginnings, the GVMC active in stretching the limits and expanding the horizons of local mvtoreveling. In the 1930s and 1940s the club promoted dirt track ties in| Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, and also helped support. a number of long d zeorides. One of the Chab’s very fest “Wild Willie” sent to Daytona, Florida in the 1940s by the Indian Motoreycle Company to compete in the famous Daytona races.
