Shore Community Services
(NSCS).

Volunteers are needed for
a minimum of two out of
three days (four hour shifts)
May 18- 30 for a special event
- the Challenge at Point Grey
golf tournament. Duties
include admissions, parking,
souvenir programs ‘and help-
ing with the Gala Charity
Auction.

_ Volunteers are needed to
help with an event on Sunday,
June 1 in Stanley Park.
‘Vancouver is one of a number
of cities hosting the event
aimed at raising funds for
Crohn’s disease and colitis
research,

A short-term companion
is needed on an occasional
basis to assist elderly clients
during a brief period of “agi-
tation.” May involve walking
around with patient or just
sitting and talking.

ACCORDING to a recent
Walt Disney World newspaper
advertisement, an Ohio couple,
Bill and Vicky Meredith, have
been journeying to the park
since 1974 and spend LO days
of every month there, staying
in the same room at the
Caribbean Beach Resort.

According to police in
Cairo, Ibrahim Mohei Eddin,
40, pushed his seven-year-old
son under a moving, train and
left him for dead at the behest
of his brand-new, 23-year-old
second wife. (The boy. sur-
vived, but lost both legs.)

And in Pennsylvania, David
W. Crist, 38, was convicted of
pushing his deaf nine-year-old
daughter into an oncoming
ruck in order, said prosecu-
tors, to collect on an insurance
policy. (He is alsa charged with
trying to electrocute another
daughter in 1990 and hiring a
hit man to kill his brother in
1982, all allegedly for insur-
ance money. Both kids sur-

Sascha Rothchild, 20,
known on campus at Bustan
College tor her trademark tive-
inch-high platform shoes,
clomped hurriedly down the
plattorm at Providence Station
in December and leaped
unsteadih for her just-depart-
ing train. She shipped and suf-
tered a broken pelvis.

Wisconsin sewage truck dri-
ver Ricky Walter, 19, recently
collided with another vehicle,
pinning Walter inside and
sending his foad directly into
the cab of his truck.

Walter was forced to mari-
nate for half'an hour before res-
cue workers gor to him.

Last September in_ rural
northeast Vermont, the car in
which Michael O’Keefe, 44,
was riding was hit by a 700-
pound moose.

O'Keefe was taken for treat-
ment cf cuts and returned to
the road a few hours later in his
own truck, which was then hit
by another moose.

Brantford, Ontario —~
Michael Ronson, 23, has been
sentenced to five months pro-
bation for violation of a previ-
ous probation by smearing an
unsuspecting woman with
shaving cream.

He is once again forbidden
to possess any “compressed-air-
impelled shaving cream con-
tainer.”
