painlessly zaps

unwanted hair

HAIR REMOVAL is not high
on the list of remedies for
relaxation. But Julie
McDougall of Julie Esthetics
has a new procedure that leaves
her clients ic: a slumber.

McDougall has introduced micro-
epilation to the North Shore. The
results compare favorably to electrol-
ysis, says McDougall. but that's
where the similarity ends.

Some women find electrolysis
uncomfortable, but micro-epilation is
so “painless” that several of
McDougall's clients will drift off to
sleep while they’re undergoing the
procedure.

“One woman calls it her nap time,
away from the kids.” says
McDougall, whose service is located
at Thomz’ in Caulfeild Village.

Electrolysis is performed with an
electric needle, that shoots up to 115
volts of direct current through the
hair shaft. killing the root and pre-
venting hair regrowth.

With micro-epilation, electronic
tweezers are used instead of a needle.
The procedure calls for just 12 volts
of energy, enough to cause a chemi-
cal reaction in the hair follicle and
destroy the hair root.

Because of the expense ($15 for
15 minutes up to $55 for | hour)
micro-epilation is best for small
areas: the underarm, lip, chin. neck
and bikini line.

think again. Like electrolysis, treat-
ment must be performed over a num-
ber of sessions. Stubborn hairs may
have to be zapped more than once.
