Spill response

FISHERIES AND Oceans Minister Brian Tobin recently
announced that Western Canada Marine Response
Corporation, the parent company of North Vancouver-
bused Burrard Clean Operations, has been approved as
Canada’s first marine oi] spill cleanup response organizs-
tion.

The organization will provide oil spill response services
to ships operating in B.C.’s coastal and irdand waters.

Resort request

THE PROVINCIAL government has requested formal
proposals from two investor groups for a ski resort devel-
opment on Brohm Ridge near Squamish.

The province generaliy sought investor group proposals
and has narrowed down the field, asking for. formal pro-
posals from Garibaldi Alpen Resorts Ltd. and Grand Adex
Resorts Inc.

_The formal proposals are to be submitted io the
Ministry of Environrient, Lands and Parks by March 31,
996.
