IRCMP search for armed robbers NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP are searching fer three men in- volved ina Nov.6 armed robbery of the Capilano Motor Inn. Three men entered the lobby of the North Vancouver motel at approximately 12:45 a.m. One of the men produced a handgun and told the night clerk to get down cn the floor. A small amount of cash was removed from a cash register. During the course of the robbery, the night clerk was assaulted with a telephone handset which had been removed from the motel switchboard. The three left the area and were last seen travelling east in an alley near Marine Drive. Information regarding the incident may be forwarded to Cpl. B.R. Douglas at 985-1311. WV mayor takes issue with sign WEST VANCOUVER Mayor Don Lanskail seid Wednesday a sign erected by the Citizens for Good Government (CGG) at the north end of Lions Gate Bridge endorsing various candidates for the Nov. 19 municipal election has incorrecily created the impression with some voters that those on the sign represent a ‘“Lanskail slate’’ endorsed by the mayor. He said that while all the candidates on the sign are all good people, they are CGG-endorsed ard do not constitute a political party. ‘+as mayor,” Lanskail said, “I have to work with the members of council that the people of West Vancouver elect, and it is not my intention to endorse or support any particular aldermanic can- didate. There are excelient candidates supported by the Citizens for Good Government and there are excellent candidates who are not supported by them.’’ CGG, formerly the West Vancouver Electors Association, en- courages candidates to stand for office and decides by an associa- tion vote to sponsor certain candidates. Local municipal candidates meet NORTH VANCOUVER District and West Vancouver voters will have a chance to hear their municipal candidates at all-candidates meetings next week. North Vancouver District candidates will be at Monteray Elementary School, 4343 Starlight Way in North Vancouver, Nov. 15 starting at 7:30 p.m. In West Vancouver, an all-candidates town meeting will begin at $ p.m. on Nov. 16 at West Vancouver Secondary School, 1750 Mathers Ave. Elections for both these North Shore municipalities are Nov. 19. WV ratepayers sponsor meeting AN ALL-Candidates mecting relative to the West Vancouver Municipal elections is being sponsored by the Ambleside & Dun- darave Ratepayers Association. The meeting will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Ridgeview Elementary School, located at 1250 Mathers Avenue. Candidates for the office of mayor will be introduced, followed by aldermanic candidates and school board candidates. In the interests of time, introductions will be followed by ques- tions from the floor.
