A YOUNG North Shore resident is
beginning to make a nume for
himself in the Player's Challenge
West racing circuit.

After several finishes just out of
the top three, Kent Holden finally
drove his way to a second- “place
finish Aug. 23 picking up $4,000 in
the process.

Holden was the second fastest
qualifying driver Aug. 22. He
finished only 11/100 of a second
behind ex-Formula One driver
Allen Berg, the top qualifier.

Then on Sunday, starting in the
fifth position in the grid (the top
six drivers from qualifying are
reversed for the race start), Holden
rolled by all but the winner Frank
Allers, to finish second ahead of
Berg who finished third.

The Gasoline Alley racing team
was very pleased with Holden’s
finish, which moved him into
fourth place in the overall stan-
dings.

Driving in showroom — stock
Camaro Z28 and Firebird Trans
Am cars, the Player's series has
become one of the most popular
forms of racing around.

The next race in the Players
West series goes this weekend in
Calgary, then returns to Westwood
Raceway again Sept. 20.
