Stott chops up
karate victory

TEN-YEAR-OLD Daniel Stott
took first place in the recent Junior
B.C. Karate Championship held at
Central Burnaby Secondary
School.

Stott, a participant in the West
Vancouver Recreation Centre’s
karate program, competed in the
competition’s kata form (one on
one) at the yellow-belt level.

The victory places Stott first in
his age group throughout the pro-
vince.

A WVRC team of juniors also
won the silver medal for group
competition.

The tournament was the largest
of its kind in Canada.

Over 400 competitors took part
in the two-day event.
