Consumer groups get cash

MINISTER -of. Consumer and
Corporate Affairs Harvie Andre
announced recently that grants and
contributions availavle to groups
promoting consumer interests
would be maintained at $1.8 mil-
lion this year despite a framework
of fiscal restraint.

To ensure maximum impact of
resources, the selection criteria
gives priority to projects that have
a national emphasis.

But projects of regional impor-
tance that can be used as models to
address similar issues in other
regions across Canada will also be
considered.

Organizations applying for tun-
ding should request the ap-
propriate forms from the nearest
regional office of Consumer and
Corporate Affairs Canada.

Deadline for receipt of applica-
tions is March 9, 1987, for projects
beginning April 1, 1987.

ments in some grade levels in
larger districts, he explained,
“meant that volume discounts
based on original student enrol-
ments were not as large as an-
ticipated.**
