WV Otters win junior titles

SWIMMERS WITH) the
West Van Otters captured
five first place finishes at the
B.C. Junior provincial
swimming championships,
held last weekend in
Nanaimo.

The only double winner
was Scott Elliot, swimming
in the boys 11 and 12 age
group, as he captured the
100 metre butterfly and the
200 metre 1M.

Fun race to

COMPETITIVE SKIING is
coming to the slopes of
Cypress with a four-week
program of dual slalom
meets that will lead to finals
in late March.

But while the race series
will lead to prizes for the
winners, organizers of the
Cypress Fun Dual Slalom
Races say the accent will be
firmly placed on the fun
throughout the event.

Teams of four will race in
four age groups on February
25 and March 4, 11 and 18
as they head for the Mareh
27 finais.

youth cricket league is get-
ting set to register boys and
girls between eight and 16
for another season of play.

Local youths will play in
the Vancouver and District
Saturday Morning Junior
Cricket League, a fun league
that puts the experienced
players and novices into
three age groups.

As well as the Saturday

a prize — will quatily for the
finals.

will be awarded to winners

a special prize ~- a pair of
skis ~ for the fastest indi-
vidual skier.

Team entry is $60, which
will include an all-day lilt

hour racing clinics by quali-
fied coaches on the morning
of the events.

Chris Carmack
Chris Carmack is a fine young man who
delivers our Wednesday and Friday News to
readers in our Dundarave zone, in West Van-
couver, he has been providing excellent service

for two years now and

we are pleased to

recognize the great job he does.

Chris is twelve years old, a grade seven student
at St. Anthony's School, enjoys P.E. and socials
and plays the drums in the band.

Chris plays soccer

for the West Van

Spuraways in the new metro league and although
competition is tough this year, he is hoping they
will do well. Good luck, Chris. Skiing is also one

of his favourite activities.

Chris has certainly put his earnings to good
use, he hag bought his own set of drums and is
now saving for new ski equipment next year.

We enjoyed meeting Chris and his family and
showing them around our facilities here at the

News.

For being our star carrier this week he received,
complimentary movie passes, a North Shore
news baseball cap, tickets to go swimming and a
special thanks for a job very well done.
