Let us remember: that democracy can only be effective if the majority do not abuse their decision-making privileges. _ The current anti-smoking crusade that has become so trendy is an example. Silvana Facci North Vancouver Dear Editor: The hostile positions adopted by the West and North Vancouver school boards towards the North Shore Independent School Society run counter to the in- tent of provincial legislation in the matter. The September 1977 Bill 33 (Independent Schools Sup- port Act) was passed into law because it was recognised that a single province-wide school system did not provide sufficient choice for all parents to select the form of education their children would receive.
