That is the day the sun is farthest from the equator and ap- pears to stand still. One of the things summer brings to the West Van- couver Memorial Library is - Holiday Loans. If you are going away on holiday you can request that your books be checked out on the six week Holiday Loan period. Two week loan books, and records do not qualify for Holiday Loans. However you can pack away several pocket books in your suitcase, and any other hard backs that are not on reserve or in high demand. Just remember to mention at the . desk that you want them checked out on Holiday Loan. Holiday loan season Students might like to browse away some of their summer time looking through the ‘Careers Canada” series put. out by Manpower and Immigration. This series deals with the many occupations for sutdents considering en- trance into the world of work. Some of the careers listed are: machine moulders, blacksmiths, cosmetologists, flight at- - tendants, ship’s stewards, popular. singers, translators and interpreters — all these booklets are in the Adults Services Department. Due to the perennial popularity of the Book- mobile the summer schedule will include weekly visits to Esquimalt, Kiwanis, Capilano, Beacon Hill, Park Royal, Inglewood, Libby Lodge, and Horseshoe Bay. If you are looking for Day Camps or recreation in your neighbourhood, there are a variety of options open to you. The North Vancouver Recreation Commission for example has planned a Summer Playground Program for 6 to 12 years old at the Recreation Centre and at a number of community schools, and a Pre-school Playground Program at Lynn Valley Community Hall.Call the Recreation Centre at 988-6166 for details and registration. The North Shore Neighbourhood House will again have a Day Camp Summer Adventure Program and “a summer Playground Program for 6 to 12 year olds. Their phone number is 987-8138.
